This was our second clinic with trick trainer Carole Fletcher. We had a wonderful turnout with an assortment of animals this year. We had many talented horses, a pony, a mini, a mule, a cow, and a dog participate. Carole showed us how to teach the horse to smile, say yes, say no, take a hanky, stretch/park out in preparation for the bow, the curtsy bow, the more traditional one-knee bow, stepping up on a pedestal, and how to transfer the cues for the curtsy bow from the ground to under-saddle. She also showed us how to teach a dog to bow as well.
Nathan Coffman joined us on May 8th to provide instruction on natural horsemanship. For the most part he focused on groundwork and asking the horses to give to pressure on the bit. All the horses did well despite the awful weather we had that day!
To beat the winter blues this year we started up a drill team! All the riders and horses had fun.
August 1st, 2009 we invited Carole Fletcher to put on a trick horse training clinic. Trick training is a fun way to introduce ground manners to young horses and to enhance your horse's enthusiasm for learning and creating a stronger bond between you and your equine friend. Carole showed us her methods of teaching several tricks including smiling, saying yes or no, and bowing.

During the spring of 2009 we invited Esther Gates to conduct a series of yoga classes with the finale class being on horse back. The pictures show some of the exercises we did to relax both ourselves and our horses.
